Operating Principles

The DFU1604 Ball Screw operates on the rolling friction principle, with a unique mechanism to enforce zero backlash:

1.Rotary-to-Linear Conversion: The ball screw shaft features a fine helical groove. The double ball nut contains two individual nuts, each with matching grooves and multiple circuits of precision steel balls.

2.Zero-Backlash Preload: The two nuts are mounted together, separated by a precisely sized shim or spacer. This spacer forces the two nuts to push against the opposing flanks of the screw thread. This constant, opposing force eliminates all axial clearance (backlash), places the screw under a controlled load (preload), and maximizes axial stiffness.

3.Ball Circulation System ("U"): The internal circulation mechanism ensures the steel balls in both nuts are continuously guided back to the load-bearing zones, facilitating smooth, continuous, and low-friction travel.
