The main functions of a linear motion module are to enable precise Guiding and Positioning, minimize friction through the use of bearing assemblies, and provide robust Load Support while maintaining rigidity for automated motion.
Based on operating principles, linear guide modules can be categorized into two types: ball screw-driven and synchronous belt-driven.Ball Screw Drive, Converts motor's rotary motion into linear motion via a screw and nut system, offering high precision, high load capacity, and robust construction. Within the carriage, Bearing Units are housed to facilitate low-friction movement, utilizing various technologies such as rolling-element bearings (balls or rollers), plain surface bearings, or magnetic bearings. The movement itself is generated by the Drive Unit, which provides the propulsive force through mechanisms like a ball screw and nut assembly, a synchronous belt, or a linear motor. This drive unit is typically powered by an external Motor (like a servo motor) that supplies the necessary rotational force, connected to the drive unit via a Coupling. Finally, the system's longevity and smooth operation are ensured by End Caps and a Lubrication System, which serve as protective seals to prevent contaminants from entering the guide path and ensure proper lubrication.
