Ball screws are specialized feed screws that achieve exceptionally high efficiency thanks to the rolling motion of balls located between the screw shaft and the nut.
This highly efficient mechanism requires a drive torque that is less than one-third of that needed for a conventional sliding screw. This significant reduction in required force makes ball screws an ideal choice for maximizing the power saving of the drive motor and improving overall system efficiency.
Types and Configurations
Ball screw linear modules offer various types and configurations to suit diverse application needs:
Motorized: Some modules are supplied with an integrated or easily attachable motor (e.g., servo or stepper) for immediate electromechanical operation.
Manual: Modules can be supplied without a motor for custom applications that require manual adjustment or integration with a user-supplied drive system.
Multi-axis: These modules are designed to be combined into sophisticated single, dual (XY/XZ), or multi-axis Cartesian robot systems for complex positioning tasks.



Classification of Ball Screws
Ball screws are primarily classified based on their manufacturing process, which directly determines their resulting accuracy grade:
Precision Ball Screws:
Manufacturing: These screws are manufactured through precision grinding.
Accuracy Grades: They offer the highest levels of accuracy, with six grades available, ranging from C7 to C0 (where C0 is the highest precision).
Rolled Ball Screws:
Manufacturing: These screws are formed through a high-accuracy rolling process.
Accuracy Grades: They offer three standard accuracy grades, ranging from C10 to C7 (where C7 is the highest precision within this category).
