How To Choose Between SCS And SCV Linear Slides?

Choose the SCS Standard Series If:
1. You Need a General-Purpose Linear Motion Solution
The SCS series is suitable for CNC routers, automation equipment, and machine tools where its housing dimensions and mounting configuration meet the design requirements.

2. Your Application Requires Adequate Support for Moment Loads
For cantilevered or elevated payloads, the longer bearing housing may provide a larger support footprint. Actual moment-load capacity depends on block geometry, shaft support, load position, and mounting conditions.

3. You Need Compatibility with Existing Equipment
When replacing existing components, choose SCS models that match the original shaft diameter, housing dimensions, mounting-hole pattern, and bearing specifications.

Choose the SCV Short Series If:
1. Compact Installation and Usable Stroke Are Priorities
In desktop laser engravers, compact 3D printers, and laboratory automation equipment, shorter blocks may help reduce the space occupied by the carriage assembly. The actual increase in usable travel depends on the shaft length, block dimensions, end clearances, and travel stops.

2. You Want to Reduce Moving Mass
The shorter housing may reduce carriage mass compared with a longer block of otherwise comparable construction. This can benefit applications requiring frequent acceleration and deceleration, provided the motor and drive system are properly sized.

3. You Need Flexible Spacing for Multiple Blocks
When two blocks are mounted at a suitable distance apart on the same shaft, their spacing can help support the carriage against tilting moments. SCV blocks may offer a more compact option while allowing designers to adjust the distance between support points to suit the available installation space.
