1. Slit-Based Friction Clamping
The SK support utilizes a non-marring slit-based clamping mechanism to secure linear shafts.
Structural Design: The aluminum block features a precision-bored mounting hole with a relief slit (gap) cut into the upper section.
Actuation: A hex-head bolt spans this slit. Tightening the bolt compresses the gap, slightly reducing the effective bore diameter.
The Advantage: Unlike set screws, which drive a point into the steel rod, the SK support compresses around the shaft's circumference. This creates a 360-degree friction grip that secures the shaft firmly without marring or damaging the precision surface finish.
2. Geometric Alignment & Standardization
The secondary function of the SK unit is ensuring precise Height Standardization.
Reference Surfaces: The base of the SK block is machined flat and strictly perpendicular to the bore axis.
Center Height Precision: The distance from the mounting base to the center of the bore is a fixed industry standard (e.g., an SK10 always features a 20mm center height).
Simplified Alignment: By bolting two SK blocks to a flat plate, the linear shaft is automatically aligned parallel to the mounting surface, eliminating the need for complex manual shimming or adjustment.

Traditional set screws (grub screws) secure shafts via point contact, which often digs craters into hardened steel. This deformation can prevent the removal of linear bearings during maintenance.
