Select the Standard LM Series if:
- Space is Restricted: The cylindrical profile allows the bearing to be fully embedded within the housing, making it the ideal choice for compact designs with limited radial clearance.
- Retrofitting Standard Units: If you are replacing a worn bearing inside an existing aluminum slide block (e.g., SCS Series), the standard LM type is the mandatory replacement part.
- High-Volume Manufacturing: For mass production, the lower unit cost of the LM series offers significant savings, provided you have the CNC capability to machine precision bores efficiently.
Select the Flanged LMF/LMK Series if:
- Simplified Machining is Required: The flanged design eliminates the need for precision boring. It allows for direct mounting onto sheet metal or simple flat plates using only clearance holes, significantly reducing machining time and equipment costs.
- Vertical (Z-Axis) Applications: For vertical lifting, a flanged bearing bolted to the carriage offers superior safety compared to a cylindrical bearing retained by snap rings, which risk dislodgement under heavy axial loads.
- High Vibration Environments: The bolted flange connection provides a rigid, secure interface that resists loosening or shifting under heavy vibration better than press-fit or clip-retained assemblies.
