1. The Fixed-Supported Configuration
The EK/EF system employs a matched-pair engineering approach to manage the physics of linear motion effectively.
EK Unit (Fixed Side): Mounted at the motor end, this unit houses a pair of Angular Contact Bearings in a Face-to-Face (DF) configuration. This rigidly anchors the screw, absorbing all axial thrust loads and eliminating backlash.
EF Unit (Supported Side): Mounted at the distal end, this unit utilizes a single Deep Groove Ball Bearing. The bearing is free to float axially within the housing, supporting the radial weight of the screw while accommodating thermal expansion to prevent shaft warping.
2. Compact Profile & Space Efficiency
The primary advantage of the EK/EF series over the standard BK/BF series is its compact geometry.
Reduced Center Height: The EK series features a lower center height (distance from mounting base to shaft center) and thinner housing walls.
Stability: This compactness allows for lower-profile linear stages. In multi-axis systems (e.g., X-axis stacked on Y-axis), reducing the overall stack height minimizes cantilever leverage and significantly increases machine stability.
3. "DF" Bearing Arrangement (Misalignment Compensation)
The EK unit utilizes a Face-to-Face (DF) bearing arrangement. This configuration is mechanically superior at absorbing moment loads caused by slight angular misalignments. It offers a degree of "installation forgiveness," compensating for minor surface irregularities to prevent the binding often associated with overly rigid support designs.
4. Contamination Protection
Despite their compact footprint, EK and EF units feature high-quality integrated seals. These seals retain the factory-packed lithium grease while effectively excluding dust and machining chips. This ensures long-term, maintenance-free operation, which is critical for support units often buried deep within compact machinery.
5. Universal Compatibility
The dimensions of the EK series have become an industry standard for compact automation. Many off-the-shelf integrated motor brackets (MBA/MGD types) are machined specifically to match the EK geometry, ensuring seamless alignment and integration without the need for custom adapter plates.
